Giving Our Fabrics a Second Life – Part Two

It all started with a few rolls of unused tweed, classic Anna Lascata fabrics, waiting for a second chance. To see if they were suitable for footwear, Liesel @lev01.nl took a selection back to her studio for testing. Before these textiles could be transformed into trainers, they needed to be strengthened.

Enter needle felting: a technique where a layer of felt is bonded to the fabric using thousands of tiny needle punches. It’s a process that gives the material more structure, making it ideal for footwear. The process subtly alters the look and feel of the original fabric.

Liesel teamed up with her business partner @boldwool.com, a specialist in reviving textiles through circular innovation. Together, they brought our tweeds into a new phase of life, and we could hardly wait to see the results.

And then came the moment of truth.

The fabrics returned looking slightly different: their texture a little more robust, the patterns just softened enough to hint at something new. Still recognisably ours, but with a twist. The transformation was, in a word, brilliant.

Now, the rest of the leftover fabrics have also gone through the same process — and they’re ready for what comes next.

This is what sustainability looks like for us: a thoughtful collaboration, traditional materials reworked with modern methods, and the excitement of seeing something familiar become something entirely fresh.

We’ll be sharing more soon.
